MENA Newswire News Desk: flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, made its first appearance at the Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) 2024, which began today at the Sakhir Airbase in Manama and will continue until 15th November. This debut highlights flydubai’s growing focus on the Bahraini market and commitment to advancing its presence in regional aviation events.

In a statement marking the occasion, flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith emphasized the significance of BIAS for the regional aviation industry, describing it as a crucial platform for showcasing aviation advancements and new technologies. “We are excited to be here for the first time, underscoring our commitment to the Bahraini market, which we have been proudly serving since 2009,” Al Ghaith said. The CEO added that the airshow offers an opportunity for flydubai to demonstrate its recently retrofitted cabin interiors, a project aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and incorporating cutting-edge technology.

The airline launched this cabin retrofit program earlier in 2024, targeting its fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft. So far, 15 aircraft have undergone interior upgrades, with two more set for completion by the end of the year. flydubai plans to extend this retrofit initiative into 2025, expecting to revamp up to 20 of its aircraft. The improvements are intended to standardize and elevate the passenger experience across its fleet.

Bahrain remains a key market for flydubai, which began its operations in the kingdom in 2009. The airline has conducted over 2,800 flights between Dubai and Bahrain from January to October this year, moving a significant volume of travelers. Since the inception of its Bahrain route, flydubai has transported more than four million passengers between the two destinations, bolstering connectivity and business opportunities within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. Currently, the airline operates 31 flights per week on this route.

As BIAS 2024 progresses, flydubai’s participation underscores its ambitions within the regional aviation sector. The airline’s debut at the event reflects its broader strategy to expand its footprint and underscore its role in the Gulf’s interconnected air travel market.
